Being a new mother requires you to always be on your toes and this might leave you sleep-deprived. It can be difficult to even have a few minutes all by yourself. As a result, all of it takes a toll not only on your body but also on the glowing skin you once had. We can attribute all of this to many reasons like change of lifestyle and physical body changes, especially the hormonal changes.

There's no doubt that going through this phase is a true roller-coaster of hormones and the built-up stress of becoming a new parent could easily leave your skin looking dull, dry, torn-out and pigmented.

While some lucky pregnant ladies have what we call the 'glow of pregnancy' others have the worst acne breakouts of their lives. Irrespective of that, the arrival of your baby may leave you struggling with pregnancy related skin issues.

And if you haven't yet figured out a beauty regime, we have little beauty treats and simple but pampering, rituals to make you feel new and refreshed again.

  1. Wash away excess oil to prevent acne on your face. Cleanse your face twice a day with a mild cleanser, which wash away dirt, oil and other harmful chemicals that could lead to breakouts on your skin.

  2. Get plenty of sleep, and make sure you do hit the bed whenever you're little one is sleeping. Proper sleep will give you a healthier skin. If you have dry skin, use a water-based moisturiser after washing your face.

  3. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. This will help you support the liver and also in monitoring and stabilising your hormones.

  4. Making a few changes in your diet is a good step. Just because you are not pregnant anymore doesn't mean you'll increase you intake of junk food. Eat dark green, leafy vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach, beetroot, and carrots. These types of veggies are rich in vitamins and full of anti-oxidants, which will keep your skin healthy.

  5. The best way to remain fit and get a glowing skin is to start doing yoga. One of the simplest and easiest ways to get your glow back is to breathe properly. Try yoga poses like Pranayam, Anulom Vilom and others. It will help increase the blood circulation.

  6. Being happy and keeping away from all the negativity around you is equally important because being happy shows how you feel from the inside and you can live a tension-free life.

  7. Stop gorging on all that sugary stuff, you've had enough of pregnancy craving and it's time to keep a tab on your diet.

  8. Eat clean, although you can enjoy cheat days but make sure that you are not taking extra calories than you need for a healthy body and mind.

  9. A healthy and delicious way to get your glow back is by drinking detox water. Ajwain or carom seeds water is often suggested to women who've just had a baby as it helps in cleaning out toxins from the uterus and it also aids in digestion.
