NBC's 90s Throwback: Sixers vs. Spurs with Bob Costas & Roundball Rock (2026)

NBC is bringing back the retro vibes of the 90s for the Sixers vs. Spurs game, with a special 'Throwback Tuesday' broadcast. Sports announcer Bob Costas is back, along with the iconic 'Roundball Rock' and the Sixers' black throwback jerseys. This special broadcast is a nod to the 90s, when Michael Jordan and NBC were both considered the kings of the court. NBC is recreating the entire retro feel of its 1995-96 telecast, from in-game announcers to on-screen graphics and even grainy highlights packages. Costas, the longtime face of 'NBA on NBC', is handling play-by-play duties alongside analysts Mike Fratello and Doug Collins, while Jim Gray is handling sideline reports. The Sixers, led by rookie Jerry Stackhouse, won only 18 games during the 1995-96 campaign, but they managed to land lottery pick Allen Iverson in the 1996 draft. With Paul George still suspended and center Joel Embiid sidelined again with an oblique strain, the Sixers will look to guard Tyrese Maxey, who is putting up his own Iverson-like numbers this season, against the Victor Wembanyama-led Spurs. If you're planning to tune in, the telecast kicks off at 7pm with an hour-long edition of 'NBA Showtime' hosted by Hannah Storm, and tip-off is at 8pm at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. Tickets are $48+.
