Ubisoft has made headlines recently by announcing a price hike for its Just Dance+ subscription service, set to take effect in April 2026. This announcement comes just a week after the company revealed significant cuts and cancellations aimed at improving operational efficiency and restructuring its business model.
Launched in November 2022, Just Dance+ is a streaming service that enhances the gaming experience for players of Just Dance 2023 Edition and beyond. It allows subscribers to access an extensive library of songs from the series' past releases. However, this added convenience will now come at a higher price. Starting in April, the monthly fee will increase by $1, three-month subscriptions will rise by $3, and annual passes will see an additional charge of $5. Here’s a detailed look at the new pricing compared to the old:
- Monthly Subscription: Previously $3.99 / 3,99€, now $4.99 / 4,99€
- Three-Month Subscription: Previously $9.99 / 9,99€, now $12.99 / 12,99€
- Annual Subscription: Previously $24.99 / 24,99€, now $29.99 / 29,99€
In spite of the price increase, Ubisoft promises fresh content to justify the higher costs. A selection of new tracks has already been released, including popular songs like "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves, "Toxic" by Britney Spears, and BTS's "Dynamite." Fans can expect even more additions with a second wave scheduled for February 10, 2026.
However, the timing of this announcement raises eyebrows, especially following last week's major restructuring news. Ubisoft canceled six games, one of which included the much-anticipated remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and closed several studios as part of this overhaul. The company is shifting its focus toward live-service models, specializations, and investing in generative AI technology.
In addition, there are rumors of a Rayman 30th Anniversary edition being rated, possibly under Atari's management. Still, the outlook for Ubisoft isn’t particularly bright. According to reports from IGN, the Paris headquarters is implementing further cost-reduction measures, including offering voluntary redundancies. This follows a recent call to action by the French union Solidaires Informatique, which is planning additional strikes in response to the restructuring plan.
